Saalasti Grinder V (Vertical feed)
– For fine crushing
Saalasti Grinder V -series grinders reduce preprocessed materials down to e.g. P12 particle size. Chipped forest residues, pre-crushed biomass, screening reject, sawmill waste, oversize chips and chip lumps can be processed.
The machine also handles contaminated or badly precrushed wood, which significantly widens the range of suitable raw materials. Although the biggest acceptable input size is ca. P200, occasional pieces may weigh several kilograms. The machine tolerates sand, stones of reasonable size, and even small tramp metal, so the raw material does not need to be cleaned.
Saalasti Grinder V is very suitable for preparing material for bioconversion processes or gasification applications. It is also used to replace sawdust and planer shavings in pellet production.
Saalasti Grinder A (Axial feed)
– For primary milling
Saalasti Grinder A is a further development of the successful Saalasti Crush series. It is designed to mill chipped forest residues, pre-crushed biomass and screening reject into a very small particle size. The input material must be chipped or crushed to size P100 (mm) or smaller, but the output particle size can be controlled over a fairly wide range. Nevertheless, the machine can mill very wet materials, for example spruce bark with lot of snow, without clogging. It even tolerates stones of reasonable size. The process can also be used to aid drying of the material.
The Saalasti Grinder A is intended for applications where relatively fine particle size is needed, but where an absolutely uniform particle size distribution is not necessary. Typical applications include co-firing for pulverized coal boilers and raw material for pellets, pyrolysis or gasification processes.
Saalasti Screens and other equipment
– Oversize screening and sand separation
As auxiliary equipment for Saalasti biomass processing systems, we supply disc screens for oversize screening and vibrating screens for separating sand in stump pre-crushing. In addition, step screens are available for separating sand and excessively fine material before crushing.
Saalasti’s step screen is suitable for applications where the reject may contain small quantities of fine material. In some applications, step screens can be effective in preventing long sticks from ending up in the accepted fraction. Step screens are suitable for processing bark with large quantities of sand, as the only parts prone to wear are the screen plate blocks, which are inexpensive and easy to replace.
On the other hand, a disc screen is a smart choice when fine material needs to be separated as completely as possible, while occasional oversize pieces in the accept are not a problem. Disc screens are also ideal for installation sites where heights are limited.
